More Reason to Provide Support to Middle School Students
Eileen Bernstein author of Middle School and the Age of Adjustment : A Guide for Parents tells us, a middle schooler enters the sixth grade as a child and two years later emerges as an adolescent and goes through tremendous changes in the process. And these youngsters often change from day to day. Middle school can be very exciting - with the change to a seven-period day and more freedom. But they must also endure the adjustment from one teacher who really cares to seven teachers who really care but have 150 students to care about. The physical, social, and emotional changes are always present in the mind of a middle school child. The requirements for adapting can be daunting. Throw in the higher academic requirements and the organizational responsibilities, and you will see children who are struggling to make sense of their world.

Why did we have to start a Middle School anyway? Kids are feeling awkward enough at this age to add in the stress of a changing school environment, rotating classmates and added responsibilities. I didn't have a middle school experience, but I really appreciate my K-8 environment now, and wish that for my kids too. Great info on your BLOG...I'm really enjoying it.
